Fields Lumber concentrates on buying and selling only the finest lumber. We
purchase lumber from over 100 sawmills across the Appalachian and Southern producing
areas. Many of our suppliers have been manufacturing lumber, exclusively for
Fields, for decades.
Company Profile:
|
A great percentage of our lumber is still shipped mill direct. However, when
our lumber is delivered to our yard it is inspected and graded. It is then stickered
and placed in buildings, or on the yard for air-drying. The company has over
300,000 BF of state of the art dry kilns, and approximately 200,000 board feet
of air drying buildings. All kiln dried lumber is stored in a 2 million board
foot dry storage building.
Each year the company produces some 30 million board feet of lumber. Of this
total volume, about 15 million board feet is Fields Ash. Fields Ash, harvested
in the Mid-South and Southwestern Appalachian region of the US, is characterized
by firm texture and even color.
Fields Lumber handles a variety of thickness and grades in Poplar. The Poplar
is well manufactured, straight, and flat. Fields carries thickness from 4/4
through 8/4, in the grades of #1 Common, FAS/F1F. We occasionally have #2 Common
stock available as well.

Fields Lumber has provided the best in Southern
Red Oak since it's start in 1960. This is not your typical Southern Red Oak!
Fields Lumber manufactures this product to be the highest quality Southern Red
Oak you can buy. Manufactured out of Central Arkansas and Western Tennessee
stock, this red oak has some variance in color, but not what you would expect
to see in typical Southern Red. Furthermore, Fields grades it's Red Oak to be
free of mineral. This premium stock is available in 4/4 FAS/F1F and #1C, other
grades and thickness are available as well.

This is Fields' specialty! Nobody does it better
than us! Fields Ash is considered the industries benchmark when it comes to
well manufactured "white ash." Thicknesses from 4/4 to 8/4 are available in
the grades of FAS/F1F, #1 Common, and #2 Common.
Fields makes the most stringent color separation in the industry in the grades
of FAS/F1F and #1 Common. The FAS/F1F is separated 100% white one face or better
in the required cutting areas, and guaranteed sticker shadow free one face or
better. The #1 Common is separated 80% white one face or better in the required
cutting areas, and guaranteed sticker shadow free one face or better. The #2
Common has no color separation. Unselected stock is also available in FAS/F1F
and #1 Common.
Fields Ash has a medium to firm texture and is cut in the Western Appalachian
region of the Eastern United State. This is the best Ash money can buy.

Fields Lumber handles several separations of
Soft Maple. Our WHND (worm holes no defect) grade is sold as #2 C&Btr in the
thickness of 4/4, 5/4, and 8/4.
Fields Lumber makes a color sort in its 4/4 WHAD (worm holes a defect) grade.
The "selected for white WHAD" is separated 100% white one face or better, and
guaranteed "sticker shadow free" one face or better. This color separation is
found only in the FAS/F1F grades. There is also an "unselected" sort in the
4/4 FAS/F1F, and #1 Common grades.
Fields carries 8/4 WHAD Maple in the grade of FAS/F1F only. There is no color
separation made for 8/4 WHAD Maple.
